Job Description
A CNC Machinist produces precisely engineered parts and tools by using computer numerically controlled equipment. They use computer software programs and blueprints to create operation instructions for CNC machinery. The Machinist is responsible for making parts that fully meet all required specifications. This includes setting up equipment, operating the CNC Machine and inspecting finished parts. Reports to the Machine Shop Supervisor
Essential Functions:
· Familiarity with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software and machinery used for computer-aided manufacturing.
· Ability to interpret blueprints/schematics for required job.
· Setup, breakdown, and maintain machine operations.
· Ability to understand programming of CNC machine.
· Runs CNC programs to produce tools & parts to dimensional/tolerance requirements.
· Able to identify various metals used in the operation of machine.
· Modify machines with attachments, fixtures or specialized tooling to achieve different production capabilities.
· Knowledge and use of 4th Axis.
· Monitors the production process and intervenes when problems arise.
· Ability to work with tight tolerance on machined parts.
· Inspects finished parts for flaws and defects.
· Ability to use depth micrometers, pitch micrometers, bore gauge, vernier caliper, thread gauges, Johnson gauge, groove gauge, blade micrometer, height gauge, edge finder.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Minimum 5 years of Machine Shop.
· Experience in the Aerospace industry.
