Job Description
Responsible for solving complex engineering problems in support of developing high-power solid-state RF amplifiers. Involves the analysis, research, design, development, fabrication, and hands-on testing of high-power RF amplifier circuits, modules, and/or systems.
· Performs design of active and/or passive high power RF microwave components and circuits operating up to 18 GHz and above; wideband CW operation and/or high peak power pulsed operation.
· Constructs models, simulates, and optimizes new conceptual RF circuits and supporting analog circuits.
· Performs RF amplifier device selection and lineup budget analysis calculations to predict operating points and performance.
· Constructs RF test setups and evaluates, tests, tunes, and modifies circuits to meet specifications; documents and analyzes the results.
· Provides technical assistance and coordinates with other team members to support product development, manufacturing, and transitioning new designs to production.
· Assists in preparation of bids and proposals.
· May have occasional travel duties to include customer design reviews and participation in field testing.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent.
· 4+ years of experience in RF microwave design and development.
· 8+ years of experience in RF microwave design and development for senior level position.
· Proficiency generating schematics, PCB layout, and hands-on experience evaluating, testing, tuning, and modifying circuits to meet specifications.
· Proficiency using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and simulation software.
· Proficiency using Microsoft Office.
· Proficiency using test equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience writing technical documents.
Preferred Qualifications:
· High power solid-state amplifier design and hands-on experience with both packaged surface mount components and bare die.
· Experience with ADS, HFSS, AutoCAD, and PADS is a plus.
· Familiarity with EMI/EMC testing per MIL-STD-461 is a plus.
· Experience with circuits operating up to 40 GHz is a plus.
· Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance
