Job Description

Perform general and cost accounting functions and prepare analyses and accounting reports according to generally accepted accounting standards. Supervise and train select staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate the activities of select accounting staff, including work assignments, and reviewing work product.
  2. Provide technical advice, guidance, and train staff in procedures according to generally accepted accounting principles and established company procedures.
  3. Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and established company procedures.
  4. Responsible for the preparation of reports, such as budget reports, cash flow reports, etc., as required.
  5. Assist cost accounting with prep of analytical studies of accounting data, i.e.: cost analysis of labor & material, assets, liabilities, etc.
  6. Assist outside accountants with annual audit.
  7. Assist cost accounting with prep of detailed cost summaries and inventories to determine job costs, unit costs, etc.
  8. Establishing and maintain files and records necessary to the orderly operation of the accounting function.
  9. Accumulate data to prepare and make monthly journal entries.
  10. Enter journal entries in system to generate general ledger reports.
  11. Prepare periodic budget, cash flow reports, etc., as required.
  12. ADP Payroll backup/Costpoint employee information maintenance
  13. Prepare payroll tax reports as required.
  14. Review purchase orders, receiving reports and vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness
  15. Ensure timely payments of vendor invoices
  16. Responsible for preparing the accounts payable register and related reports
  17. Coordinate cash disbursements to ensure prompt payment of invoices.
  18. Responsible for preparing the accounts receivable register and related reports
  19. Cash receipts application and tracking of customer invoice payment status
  20. Manage fixed asset depreciation and accounts receivable processes.
  21. Must be able to perform all the duties of subordinate accounting department staff.
  22. Review the job performance of select accounting staff.
  23. Maintain a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

   Bachelor’s degree Accounting or equivalent with 9 years or master’s degree with a minimum of 7 years cost and general accounting experience within a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated management experience.
