Job Description
The Sr. Test Engineer designs, develops, and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment. The position performs a variety of technical, multi-disciplined tasks across the product pipeline, from development through production. The Sr. Test Engineer makes knowledgeable, data-driven decisions and employs innovative technologies with optimal control and maximum speed and flexibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures testability of new product designs, providing feedback to design teams
- Accurately estimates project costs associated with implementing test solutions
- Owns the test requirements from the vendor to shipment to the customer
- Verifies products meet functional requirements including design verification, running automated and manual tests
- Prepares test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment and completes specifications and procedures for new products
- Analyzes capabilities and ensures control of critical parameters of products and test equipment
- Utilizes LabVIEW and ATE (Automated Test Equipment)
- Performs HW and SW validation activities for new products
- Records all work in clear and concise language
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The Sr. Test Engineer regularly works in the office, lab, and manufacturing facilities. Travel to international manufacturing and/or development locations may be required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have strong problem-solving attributes and be able to rely on experience and independent judgement to plan and accomplish goals
- Proficiency in LabVIEW is required
- Ability to operate a variety of electrical test instrumentation
- Capability in hardware and software development
- MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Electrical Engineering background is required
- Ability to read PCB schematics critically for troubleshooting purposes
EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of relevant Test Engineering experience/manufacturing support
- Proven ability to methodically solve complex, technical issues with a wide degree of creativity and latitude
- Extensive experience utilizing LabView test application development
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline preferred or equivalent experience; Master’s Degree in Engineering is preferred
- 6-sigma or equivalent statistical, problem-solving methodology – desired
COMPENSATION:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
